Irrigation & Fertigation
IHC has decades of experience worldwide, from the Americas to Africa, Gulf and Asia, working alongside key decision makers such as CEOs, directors, farm owners, Government departments, procurement managers, farm managers, agronomists, small scale farmers and commercial farmers. We are run by a team of professionals involved in the worldwide agriculture industry, from salad crops to cocoa and flowers.
As horticultural experts we are always working with new ideas, products and services ensuring high yield with minimum waste. Leading edge sustainable methods are at the heart of our work, and our international skills are far reaching across many applications: from hi-tech vertical growing, through to traditional irrigation, crop protection and fertigation.
Vertical Growing
The buzzword for more than a decade now in horticulture. Vertical growing maximises space while increasing yield using varied indoor environments. Using the latest hydroponic technology, even urban sites can produce nutritious, pesticide-free leafy greens without the need for sunlight, soil or chemicals. Recent papers have described vertical farms as prime candidates to solve the growing food, water and energy crisis in the United States and across the world. Speak to the IHC team about our first hand experience of such installations - from the USA to Dubai and Qatar.
Hydroponic Growing
Commercial hydroponic growing is an eco-friendly option for food production systems. Crucially, all aspects of hydroponic growing systems are recyclable because the water and feed is re-circulated and reused. Some growing media can be washed and reused although this is not as a rule used by commercial growers. Another critical fact of hydroponic growing systems is that there is no run-off to pollute the environment. It’s incredible to think we can now feed the human population while recycling the waste products to become energy providers – it’s win-win from top-to-toe.
Ebb and Flood Method
It’s a simple fact: Without water nothing in the world can survive. The Ebb and Flood method of growing combined with a re-circulation system you can save this precious commodity, and this is why we have overseen installations of this type with many growers worldwide.
Crucially, by watering this way the plant only takes the water that is needed for the plant to grow. By using the Ebb and Flood method of water you are also bringing air into the equation. Each time you water you are presenting O2 in the water to the root system. This allows the roots to take more nutrients up which results in a healthier plant! When the drain action starts, this then forces the water out from the tray, creating pressure on the roots which again helps to encourage a healthy root system.
Deep Water Culture - Aquaponic
Aquaponics is the integration of recirculating aquaculture and hydroponics in one production system. The Deep Water Culture (DWC) is one of the three common methods of aquaponics being utilized at the present, generally implemented at large-scale operations.

For more than a decade we have been growing plants without soil, using mineral nutrient solutions in water, which is then fully recycled.
The buzzword for more than a decade in growing circles - with savings of up to 90% water use, and full water recycling, this is the future!
